New work and NY Armory Art Week

This week I finished a new piece which I have been working on since the end of January and went to New York City to see the various art fairs taking place during the Armory Show week.
The artwork is something that I started back in late January and has taken more time than I had anticipated. So this week I have put my full energy to make progress on the piece and bring it to completion.
On Wednesday, I arrived in New York to check out the Armory Art Fair. In the past few days, I have also visited the following art fairs: Pulse, Scope, Fountain, Independent, and Verge. I find it important to go to the fairs as you are able to see works from galleries and artists from around the world and in a few days get a sampling and perspective what is happening artistically from a global perspective. In addition to the fairs, I also visited the New Museum and walked around to several galleries in Chelsea to get a bit of a feel for what is going on in New York. After this trip, I am really looking forward to getting back to Miami to work in the studio to get to work on a number of ideas that I have. As well it will be nice to be back in warmer weather. Five days of winter is enough.

New artwork nearly finished

The past week I have just been focusing on getting one new artwork completed. The project is something that I started back in mid to late January and has taken more time than I had anticipated. So this week I have put my full energy to make progress on the piece and bring it to completion. The work is nearly finished but I would like to spend one more day to really tweak it and take care of some miniscule details. So this piece will be done very soon. In addition, I have also been experimenting with some new ideas for future works that I plan to begin once my latest work is finished.

A one night show and exploring new methods

The past week I have been busy on a number of fronts. I spent a few days preparing my "Tale of Two Cities" to be part of a small one night group exhibition in Fort Lauderdale. The show which took place Saturday was a benefit for the Fort Lauderdale Museum of Art and the director, Irvin Lippman stopped by to check it out.
Also this week, I investigated a new printing technique but found that the material that I wanted to use did not work. So I will be soon using another substrate that will be more receptive to this new process. I am excited to see what the results will be! However it has not been all fun and games, I was also busy this week with taking care of some important paperwork.
This week I look forward to being less distracted and having a few days of uninterrupted time where I can sit down to finish a piece that is started a few weeks ago. I am really anxious to see how it will look once it is done!

Painting and paperwork

This week I have been working on a piece that I started a couple of weeks ago. The project requires some detail orientated painting that will take some time to do. In addition, I have also been consumed with taking care of some necessary clerical and business related paperwork. So this week I plan to devote all of my time to get my latest piece completed.
