Moving along

This week of August 8th to 12th the body shop was only able to work on the project for a few days before other jobs came in and demand their attention. They were able to fabricate and weld in panels where the Mercedes and Trabant roofs come together. On Friday, a video technician was supposed to come in to see how the video projections would work. Unfortunately, he never showed up or bothered to call telling us he would not be able to come by. To prepare for his visit, I cleaned up the inside of the car and installed most of the windows, so we would be ready to go when he arrived. Although he did not show up, the sculpture looked more complete with the windows back in. A productive week overall

This week the body shop was able to concentrate more fully on the project. They were able to weld in all of the inner patch panels that fuse the Mercedes to the Trabant as well as weld the sunroof in place. They were also able to complete 50% of the outside of where the Mercedes fuses to the Trabant. In addition, many decisions were made as to how to proceed with the overall finish of the project. As Herr Braun and his team worked on the project, I was busy cutting up the other half of the Trabant to use in future artworks. It was a productive week overall, but we will need another week like this just to finish up all of the major bodywork. Hopefully this week we will be able to continue our progress. If you have missed previous weeks developments, you can see the progress of the project and read daily accounts of what we accomplish by going to the Eins Werden page which is the window to the project's image galleries as well as blog .
