Fashion Victim 2000 Mixed Media, Wood, Styrofoam, Resin 34 x 35 x 78 inches Private collection, Washington, D.C. The Fashion Victim was part of a series investigating cultural and societal influences on human nature. The desire to be beautiful to attract the best mate is a primal instinct, however it can become distorted when societal and cultural influences come into play. My intent in this work was to exaggerate this concept showing the woman being consumed by her natural desire to be beautiful. The piece is constructed using a stryo foam sculpted base coated with epoxy resin and fiberglass cloth. The legs are re-sculpted mannequin legs. The work took 10 weeks to complete.
