Ecuador Dollarization Flag 2001 Serigraph collaged with sheet of uncut dollar bill 12 1/4 x 16 x 1 1/8 inches edition soon to be released The Dollarization series is a group of prints soon to be released. They are similar to The Dollar Spangled Banner in how they are created in that the flag is printed with transparent inks on plexi-glass and collaged with an actual sheet of uncirculated dollar bills. However the work is created to illustrate the impact of globalization on the world. In order to stabilize their economies, the countries of Ecuador and El Salvador have done away with their own currencies and have adopted the United States dollar as the official currency of each of these individual countries. When I learned about dollarization, I was inspired to make these pieces because it is appropriate to my work addressing the issues of globalization and it's economic and cultural affects.
