Acts of Faith Print
2004
Digital print using archival ink and paper
12.5 x 17 inches
Limited number of prints still available

This work came about when I came to the realization of how the lottery and prayer share certain similarities. To participate in either, one has to have a certain degree of faith. Many people pray and their prayers go unanswered. The same is true with the lottery. Many people play and do not win. Yet they persist to do both by the belief that their actions will grant them the desired results. I found it intriguing to combine these two dissimilar belief systems together through the iconic image of Albert Durer's praying hands and Florida lottery tickets. In this way reflecting the duality that exists in life between high and low culture and intentions.
